FSEM Trainings Follow-Up & Updates as of 08.04.2020

Hello again, FSEM Faculty,

We hope you all were able to attend the three trainings offered by UAP to prepare you for the upcoming academic year and the responsibilities of FSEM. We have put together the materials we have at present from the August 21st, September 2nd, and September 3rd trainings for you to access as necessary. As always, please feel free to reach out to us at uap@du.edu for any additional questions you may have. Keep up the good work and good luck with Discoveries next week!

Send us your Discoveries Zoom links please! We still do not have all of the links necessary for Discoveries week to run smoothly. Please e-mail them directly to grace.warner@du.edu.

The UAP team pulled together a comprehensive checklist to help you organize the return to campus protocols  and the things we need to be thinking about as we return to campus next week.

September 2, 2020 Training: Fall Logistics Training

Regarding the Discoveries room assignments: The Discoveries meeting rooms are different than your FSEM sessions rooms. Both are listed in the document so you can send your students to the correct rooms AFTER your FSEM sessions. Additionally, the Orientation Leaders will NOT sit in on FSEM sessions. You will not necessarily interact with the Orientation Leaders (OLS). OLs are listed in the document in case you need to connect a student with one. Any building abbreviations should be covered here: https://www.du.edu/registrar/building.html

Discoveries Updates- as of 07/31/2020

Good afternoon and happy almost-August. While we don’t yet have the final Discoveries schedule, here are a few updates so far:

  1. Staggered student move-in has been extended by one full day, so we’ll likely have only two (roughly 90-minute) opportunities to meet with students on Thursday and Friday of orientation week.
  2. One of these two sessions will likely be moved online, due to room and social distancing constraints.
  3. Final selection of this year’s One Book is delayed/ongoing, so it will not be part of our Discoveries curriculum this year (including the “One Prompt” submission).

Please expect further updates and changes in the coming weeks. While One Book will not be part of our Discoveries schedule, interested FSEM faculty and students will have many opportunities to engage with the program during the fall quarter if so inclined.

Feel free to reach out with questions or concerns.
