As we near the end of fall quarter, Student Success and the Office of Academic Advising would love your feedback on your experience of advising your FSEM students this quarter. As we’re in the first year of implementing the new first-year advising model, your input is critical to making sure we are collectively providing excellent advising experiences for our first-year students.

Message from New Student & Family Programs:

New Student and Family Programs thanks you for your hard work with our students during their first quarter. We are appreciative of your role in student transition through Discoveries, supporting their registration to participate in First Ascent, and all else you do both inside and outside of the classroom. We hope that you have had a wonderful time getting to know your students as well as the 4Discoveries Leader that supported your class. 

As the quarter wraps up, we are beginning to think about the next quarter, and even next year. With this, we turn to you for your support in recruitment of students both for future First Ascent Trips as well as to join our 4Discoveries Leader team, as well as feedback on our fall programming. 

First Ascent: 

For any of your students who did not join us for our fall First Ascent trips, there is still an opportunity for them to attend. If you have a student that is interested, please encourage them to visit our website to sign up for the spring trips. Additionally, we’ve built a new email specifically for all First Ascent inquiries. See contact information below.

4Discoveries Leader Nominations:

As I previously shared, this winter and spring, we look forward to turning our attention to recruitment of new 4Discoveries Leaders. While we do not have the job posted yet, we are hoping to begin to gather names of students that you believe would be great leaders for our incoming students. By way of the below survey, we aspire to generate personalized emails for each recommended student, using quotes from your submission encouraging them to apply to be a Discoveries Orientation Leader. As you write, please keep in mind that the verbiage shared should be something you would feel comfortable with the mentioned student reading:

We always encourage you share with the student that you are nominating them. While we will send out a nomination to the student alerting them of their nomination – it always means more coming directly from you! 

Discoveries Feedback

We look forward to hearing more direct feedback about your experience with the 4Discoveries Leaders, First Ascent planning and future collaborations and support of our new students.
