FSEM Update 7/26/21

Hi all-

Discoveries/Destinations Update

Orientation Leaders

We received word from the Orientation team that they only have 50 students apply to be Orientation leaders and thus they are having to adapt. This means they will not have enough for all the FSEM classes so they are shifting to a model where the student leaders will float around between the classes. Once we have more details on what this means I will pass it along. Please plan accordingly.

Destinations Plans:

As you already know trips this year will now take place after new student Convocation on Friday morning. Grace and I have been emailing and touching base with faculty whose plans may be impacted by RTD transportation issues or museum closures. We will continue to reach out this week to finalize plans with you. We hope to hear from RTD this week about updated bus schedules. Additionally, as Covid is still with us, please remember that we must follow University protocols set out for our return to campus this fall. We will pass information along to you as soon as we have updates to share.

We are also offering some on-campus options this year for those of you who want to have an easy option for your class. An email is coming soon with detailed activities for you to choose from. Thus far we have lined up: Ice skating at the Ritchie Center, a behind the scenes tour of the spit lab, lawn games with bounce house activities on the campus green, and an ice cream social to stop by. More options are being confirmed this week – so stay on campus with your FSEM class and enjoy a fun afternoon together.
