Happy Friday! Just one announcement today:
The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) at DU is starting a pilot a mentorship program for first-generation students majoring in the liberal arts. The program will involve a team support approach, providing interested first-gen CAHSS undergraduates with an opportunity to engage with a network of faculty/staff and peer first-gen mentors and/or allies. We’d love to hear from students who are interested in joining the program, both as participants and as peer mentors. Please respond by October 16th.
If you are a CAHSS undergraduate who is the first in your family to attend college, and you would be interested in having a faculty/ staff member and fellow first-gen liberal arts student help guide and support you through your college years, please email Elizabeth.Escobedo@du.edu and tell us a bit about yourself: What’s your year (freshman, sophomore, etc.) and major? What would you like in a mentor (e.g., are you looking for someone in your own major/minor? Someone who is also first-gen? Someone who shares your academic or extracurricular interests?)? What would you hope to get out of the program? Feel free to be informal and to be as detailed or general as you like.
If you are a CAHSS undergraduate and would be interested in serving as a peer mentor, and potentially making a significant impact in a fellow student’s life, please fill out this survey: https://udenver.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9WUOVOJj9avbJOd
