Hi there, FSEM Faculty,
We have a few updates to share from DU- see below. Additionally, we have included an email template that Rick Barbour wrote when addressing a student’s concern over a positive COVID result of a peer. He was kind enough to allow us to share it with all of you. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Students Impacted by Colorado Fires
With the damage done by the fires in Colorado, we wanted to share the plan for supporting students potentially impacted:
- There are 23 students identified who could potentially be impacted the fires
- Student Outreach & Support will make outreach to the potentially impacted students directing them to complete the online SOS Referral Form.
- If students share that their travel will be impacted we can help communicate that to HRE and other offices as needed.
- We’ll be offering the Student Assistance Fund, if needed, to help with travel support or other needs.
- Marketing and Communications will be given the details of the outreach email.
If you know of students in need of support, please submit their information to Student Outreach & Support in order to get them connected to a SOS Case Manager.

New Student Withdrawal Options:
Through Week 3 of the fall quarter (Oct 2) new students have the option to withdraw/defer their enrollment or withdraw from the university and indicate they are not returning. Please consult the University calendar https://www.du.edu/registrar/calendar/ for tuition refund and drop deadlines.

If students require additional assistance withdrawing, they should contact The Office of the Registrar at 303-871-4095 or registrar@du.edu
If a student withdraws from the University after the published dates, they will still be responsible for tuition. A calendar of University drop deadlines can be found here https://www.du.edu/registrar/calendar/
